Sink or Swim

Before you get out into the city we’d like to make sure you can be effective against the enemy and you aren’t just going to blow yourself up with our fancy gear.

Move through this underground staging area and get familiar with your weapons. Since the city is mostly devastated you’ll be using your arsenal as much to create and destroy access to areas as you will be using it to take out the enemy.

We’ve set up some barriers for you to get through and we’ve left enough ammo down there for you to work your way out.

We’ll see you on the other side, but be warned that this area may not be secure. You should always expect the possibility of coming into close contact with hostile forces.

MAP: The Approach

This might be the only intact street front in the city, and the term “intact” is used lightly here.

Echoing an old Western “showdown,” each end of this devastated avenue must be controlled if a team holds any hopes of setting up a choke point or holding a line of defense.

Building hulks provide concealment and some cover from the killing fields of the street itself, so advancing along the street sides through the devastated buildings is the only way to gain ground unseen, however controlling the street itself is the only way to defend against a rush.

MAP: Knee Deep

This skeleton of a destroyed shopping center includes multiple levels to move across. Some sink holes and pits have been covered up, but be warned that there are very dangerous traps in this area.

With a dual entrance on one side, and a rickety bridge on the other this area is framed by difficult terrain. Combat in the hulk of the shopping center can be confusing with multiple paths and levels, but much of the old structure is weakened and entire walls can be blown down to create and control routes in and out.

There is a large sink hole at one end of this area and while the temporary bridge might not last through a firefight the alternative of close combat in the stagnant water is sure death.

MAP: Black Adit

At the bottom of this abandoned subway station is a breach to the outside amidst howling wind and smoldering carcasses of wrecked trains.

There are multiple routes through the tunnels, and some covered tunnels can be breached to create new paths so attack and defense routes can change.

With the tight tunnels and confined areas, meeting engagements are fast and fierce, setting up a static line is almost impossible here, you must push your opponents back and be able to adapt quickly to a fluid front line.

MAP: Car Collector

A wrecked parking garage provides those who control it with the high ground in this area.

Multiple stairwells, underground tunnels, and the traffic ramps are the ways in and finding good cover is the challenge. The key to success here lies in controlling these access ways and covering your back.

Many temporary barricades and platforms have been erected within the garage that can be used as cover and in some cases can provide tactical vantage points.

Abandoned cars and buses litter the garage as well; use these hulks to your advantage!

MAP: Needle’s Eye

This area is hardly recognizable as an old industrial sector. Massive destruction has twisted any form or function that was once here; partially open sewers and a collapsed water table make this sector difficult and dangerous to navigate.

The center choke point is so focused that meeting engagements are sheer suicide. Any hope of safe passage through the center lies in teamwork and covering fire.

With one side of this area in a sink hole, and the other still enjoying street level access height advantage at the choke point can be a major tactical advantage, but be warned that twisted wreckage blocks much of the useful lines of sight thereby leaving combat teams no choice but to rush in many cases.
